“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14: 2-4
Something to Think About:
~Why is there so little talk about heaven?
~Why is heaven so hard to describe?
~What are some of the images that flash in your mind when you think of heaven?
Have you ever wondered what eternity would be like?
Heaven truly is a wonderful place! God’s gift of salvation means that we will live forever in Glory.
- It’s a place of unimaginable beauty: “‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9. We cannot humanly fathom all that God has in store for us in Heaven. Knowing the future that awaits us should give us hope and courage to press on in this life, to endure hardship, and to avoid giving in to temptation. This world is not all there is.
- It’s a place of restoration: - “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” Revelation 21:4. All our sorrows and sickness will disappear. We are healed in heaven. No matter what you are going through, it’s not the last word. No matter what the doctor says, God has written the final chapter.
- It’s a place of divine presence: - “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God” Revelation 21:3. Instead of our going up to meet Jesus, He comes down to be with us, just as God became man in Jesus Christ and lived among us. You can rest assured, wherever God reigns - there is peace, security and love. Think how wonderful it will be to see Him face-to-face!
- It’s a place of purity: - “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever” Revelation 22:5. Sin and anything that distorts the true pleasures and fulfillment of humanity will no longer corrupt. Heaven is about true fulfillment and eternal joy for those who love Him.
- It’s a place of joy: - “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21. Think of the happiest day you have ever experienced. You better believe that day will never compare to the unbelievable joy you will celebrate in heaven.
We don’t know as much about Heaven as we would like, but it is enough to know that eternity with God will be more wonderful than we can humanly imagine. The thought of Heaven should motivate us to serve God joyfully now, while reaching out to family, friends – and yes, even enemies, with the love of God.
Take a moment right now to write down the names of five people you know who need to know God. Begin praying for their souls today. Then ask God to help you reach out to them at the right time in the right place.“Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27
God Will…
Save those who believe in Him – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Destroy Satan so he can torment you no longer– “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 20:10
We can look forward to eternal life because Jesus has promised it to all who believe in Him.. “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:2-3
Jesus is coming back for us – tell me - what else trumps that?
Father God,
Thank You so much that You have provided a perfect place for our eternal home - and a way to get there. Please help me today to reflect the glory of heaven in my life. And Lord, it’s a simple request really, but could You build my mansion close to Your heavenly throne where I will be praising and worshipping you forever. In Jesus Holy name, Amen!
